Where did you start?

Hello friends, I saw this on twitter earlier and thought it'd be a fun way to start a discussion.

Which was your first MXTX book, and what order did you go in?

Which is your favorite adaptation so far? And which MXTX book is your favorite overall?

For me it's:

First book: MDZS
Order of adaptations: Manhua → novel and donghua at the same time → audio drama → live action drama
Favorite book: Scum Villain*

*Disclaimer: I haven't started TGCF yet because it's so long, but it's going to be the first book I read in 2020!

Scum Villain is my favourite too! I like it because it's short(er) and fun and punchy, and I love SQQ as an unreliable narrator.

The MDZS novel was my first and I like the donghua too - I thought the animation was super beautiful and it really helped me picture a lot of the novel's locations.

My first book was MDZS, I first read a Chinese version (until today I'm not entirely sure if it was comprised of the first raw or already edited; I certainly encountered some canon scenes later on that I'd somehow missed on my read, like the whole WWX's first kiss thing...), then watched The Untamed. Have seen a few eps of the donghua, but haven't been gripped by it. Also loving the audio drama. I'll say that it's a tie for me which adaptation I like best, audio drama or The Untamed.

I read SVSSS next, and while it's funnier, MDZS remains my favorite, mostly because of WWX.

TGCF is still on my to-be-read list; it'll probably take me ages to get through it in Chinese... But MXTX's books are usually very engaging, I nearly inhaled the other two.

I read Scum Villain while I read MDZS manhua (not quite sure which came first first tbh). I've only recently finished the MDZS novel proper, but I've read a little bit of Heaven Official's Blessing (which I shall get back to once I watch The Untamed). I've seen a little bit of the first season of MDZS donghua too. I swear I'll get to it all someday XD

I've also been keeping up with the Heaven Official's Blessing manhua since it just started.

I started with the MDZS manhua, watched a little of The Untamed live action, and then finally I'm currently reading the MDZS novel! Not sure if I'll be watching the donghua or the audio drama and just go to the next novel.

I've read the first few chapters of Heavens Blessing but I haven't really gotten into it yet so I'll probably let the chapters build up a bit more.

I've only been working on MDZS, but I'm looking forward to Scum Villain because a lot of my friends enjoyed that one.

I haven't read any of the books yet, but I've bookmarked MDZS and plan on starting with that one.

My gateway drug was The Untamed, which I've watched several times by now, and which I'm currently re-watching again. I've also watched all the animated episodes that are available on YouTube, too.

First book: MDZS
Order of adaptations: Manhua (because I couldn't figure out what the original source material was) → novel (once I figured out it was the original source!) → live action drama → donghua → audio drama (I haven't gotten here yet, but it's my post-donghua plan!)
Favorite book: I've only read MDZS so far, and I'm just trying to inhale everything that exists for it before I move on to another of MXTX's books. I'm really looking forward to the other stories and have heard really good things, but I'm just not ready to leave the world of MDZS behind quite yet!
